Graduate Student Researcher at Michigan’s Injury Prevention Center

 November 2021 – January 2022

During my first year as a doctorate student at Michigan, I searched for opportunities to further develop my experience and knowledge of UX Research. This included applying and earning acceptance into Michigan’s Master of Science in Information program in 2022.

I also became aware of Michigan’s Injury Prevention Center and became excited about projects faculty and students were working on related to violence prevention.

I was then put in touch Dr. Sarah Peitzmeier, who hired me as a temporary research associate.

Project Title: Adapting an Evidence-Based Sexual Assault Prevention Program Online (EAAA)

My work with the EAAA project primarily involved reviewing interview transcripts from first-year undergraduate students on their perceptions of online-based sexual assault prevention programs. As I read through these transcripts, I conducted a thematic analysis that involved several reviews of each transcript. I first coded for very broad themes, and then continued to refine my themes at each consecutive pass. Once I had done this several times, I compared themes between transcripts, while identifying common themes, and anything unique that stood out. I then shared my findings with Dr. Sarah Peitzmeier, who used the findings to design an online version of the EAAA education program
